THE FAM MUSIC

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

The FAM Music is a nonprofit focused on cultivating community, mental health, and well-being in the music industry. I served as the Director of Marketing for 10 months. During my time on the board, I worked closely with the founder, USC, LA grad Aaron Raus, and drove significant results and long-term value across the organization. I now serve as the Marketing & Partnerships Advisor for the team.

See highlights from my tenure below.

VIRTUAL EVENT: OWN YOUR SH*T

I organized this event alongside Aaron, and brought in John Beeler (the former Director of Asthmatic Kitty, Sufjan Stevens' record label), who led the event with Mattiel (an artist who was featured on Jeff Goldblum's EP Plays Well With Others, and has toured with Jack White).

Results included 20 attendees across five time zones and four countries, and one new volunteer inquiry. A recording of the event is below.

IRL EVENT: SOBRIETY & MENTAL HEALTH IN MUSIC

My idea for this event was met with excitement across my LinkedIn music industry community. I curated and led all aspects of this event production from The FAM’s side, from project management and delegating, to sourcing partnerships, panelists, and freelance talent, to co-hosting and moderating the event itself.

THE RESULTS:

Co-hosted event with Sam Bail, founder of Third Place Bar (featured in The New York Times)

The FAM’s first sold-out event

The FAM’s highest revenue-driving event to date

$785 in ticket sales from musicians and industry leaders and workers

INTERNAL: VOLUNTEER GROWTH & NYC COHORT

The FAM’s volunteer base grew by 50% during my tenure, in large part due to recruiting and mobilizing that I led. Aaron founded multiple volunteer committees to streamline nonprofit operations, and ensure volunteers have opportunities to work on projects that interest them, as well as support their goals and careers.

The photo is from our first event in NYC, “Net-Working Your Way in the Music Industry,” which includes members of the FAM NYC cohort. This panel, performance, and networking event was sponsored by Songtrust, a Downtown Music company.
